Acne Treatment Review

The fact is, there are a ton of acne treatment review sites out there, the only problem is which ones do you trust?

If you suffer from acne you know all about the annoyance of waking up in the morning and facing the mirror with those red pimples all over your skin.

…and then you have to face school or work knowing that people are looking at your face and thinking either "poor guy" or "pizza face!". Folks can be cruel and not realise the harm they are doing to you psychologically.

The only thing you can do about all this is take positive action and that's why I've written this acne treatment review for you on the solution that worked for me.

Ever heard of Zenmed or DermaCleanse? I was initially very sceptical about this range because it seemes a little more pricey than your average tube of Clearisil and so far…nothing had worked for me!

When a friend told me that they had used it and their zits had calmed down and then slowly disappeared because of the Zenmed system, I figured I'd give it a try (I still believed that my friend had probably changes his diet but anyway I went ahead…)

And I'm glad I did.

The results weren't instantanous but over time, the number of spots on my face decreased and the overall redness subsided also. So my message to you is this…

Ignore all the other acne treatment reviews and go straight to the one that works. The Zenmed Dermacleanse system has improved the quality of my life no end. Please leave a comment below with you success story once you've tried this acne treatment

Discovering The Acne Control Basics

Teenagers have enough to worry about without adding acne control to that list. For some, acne control is only a passing phase and once the surge of hormones dies down, the acne decreases. But for others, acne control becomes a lifelong battle. There are many ways to treat acne regardless of the severity of your case.

The essential methods of acne control are to keep pores from getting clogged, unclog infected pores, attack the bacteria causing the infection, or reduce the redness associated with acne.  There are many preventative measures you can take to reduce the chance of having an acne breakout in the first place.  Gently washing your face with soap and water once or twice a day will help prevent your pores from being clogged.  Beyond this, benzoyl peroxide, which is the active ingredient in Oxy pads and many other cleaning wipes, helps to further clean your skin as well as dry it out.  One of the biggest advantages of using benzoyl peroxide is that it can be used in combination with other products to treat acne.

Exfoliating is another very popular method of acne control.  Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells from the surface of your skin.  These dead cells can cause acne breakouts by clogging extremely active oil glands, especially those on your face.  Exfoliating can also make you skin much smoother, softer, and healthy.  However, some exfoliating agents can be very harsh, so a new exfoliating product should first be tested on a small area for reactions before using on your entire face.

One benefit of using exfoliating products to treat acne is that many of them contain additional ingredients that have antibacterial properties to help with acne control. They also contain anti inflammatory ingredients that reduce the redness and swelling, and therefore visibility, of existing acne breakouts.  Sulfur and Azelaic acid are two commonly used ingredients in facial exfoliating creams and wipes.  Salicylic acid is also common, but should not be used on the face, as it is far too abrasive.

Some people with severe acne may need to consult a dermatologist for help with their acne control.  A dermatologist may suggest a cleansing regime, use lights or lasers to treat and prevent breakouts, or prescribe medication.  If you are prescribed medication, you should be wary of the side effects, as most acne medication is very harsh, even toxic.  Some of these numerous side effects are somewhat discomforting, but others are very permanent.  A few acne prescriptions have even been linked with depression, sometimes resulting in suicide.

Because of the dangers of using acne medication as well as the costs involved, it is preferable to try over-the-counter treatments first, like benzoyl peroxide or exfoliating products for acne control before consulting a dermatologist.

What are the mental effects of acne?

Acne may show a body's failure to properly deal with hormonal changes. Acne can indicate that a person is not dealing with stress effectively. It may be evidence of a potentially serious allergic reaction to a medication or other element. It is not these effects of acne that tend to do the most damage, though.

More than a health issue, acne is known causing people (mainly teens) a sense of shame and embarrassment. Acne is falsely associated with being unclean. Clear, healthy skin is associated with cleanliness, while severe forms of acne are often believed to be the result of sanitary neglect. Not only that, acne can be ugly and turn people away. Most people who experience severe acne are emotionally scarred by the social rejection, leading to adolescent emotional insecurity and a sense of self-doubt. Because of this, acne should be treated as quickly and as thoroughly as possible.

Isn't it true that staying clean helps prevent acne?

It is always better to rid your skin of toxins and dirt that accumulate during your normal routine. So yes, to some extent, it is true that washing skin can help prevent or decrease acne. Acne is a chemical matter, and it is something that occurs beneath the surface of the skin more so than on the skin itself. Both daily cleansing and care of one's skin will help reduce the bacteria that rests on the skin, but they cannot lessen the testosterone levels beneath the surface of the skin that help produce acne.

Understanding this basic fact should help reduce some of the stigma attached to acne. It should also allow people who suffer from acne to take some comfort in knowing that they are not necessarily less clean than others. The truth is that they have very little control over what is going on beneath their skin.

Types Of Acne Care That You Can Live With

No matter what your age, acne care can be tricky business.  What works for everyone else might make your acne worse.  Plus, there are a lot of half truths concerning acne, as well as myths that keep people from using proper acne care.  The fact is that acne can affect your self esteem, as well as how people look at you.  This is especially true if you have cystic acne or acne scars.

While acne care for people with mild to moderate acne is not usually a terrible enigma, people with cystic acne, considered the worst type of acne, can be very difficult.  For individuals that consistently develop cystic acne lesions or have lesions that will not go away, the majority of over-the-counter acne medications have little effect.  In this event, the help of a dermatologist is usually needed.

Depending on the severity of your acne, your complexion and how oily your skin is, a dermatologist has a wide variety of acne care options to control cystic acne or even remove acne scars.  Oral medications are the oldest type of treatment for severe acne, but many of these medications are very harsh and have some very undesirable side effects.  If a dermatologist does suggest an oral acne medication, you should inquire to the side effects and possible alternatives.

Lasers are becoming a more common solution for severe acne care.  Lasers can even be used to remove acne scars, if used properly.  However, an inexperienced laser operator can cause permanent scarring.

There are two types of lasers used to treat acne, called ablative and nonablative lasers.  Ablative lasers are the oldest type and the most potentially dangerous.  Both types of lasers shrink the oil glands, which slows oil production and prevents acne breakouts, but ablative lasers destroy the outermost layer of your skin.  This causes the area treated by ablative lasers to be very red, sensitive and painful until the skin fully heals.  Because the scar tissue is destroyed, the skin that grows back will lack acne scars or wrinkles.

Nonablative lasers, on the other hand, do not harm the outer layer of skin, but get rid of acne scars by stimulating collegen growth.  However, nonablative lasers, because they are gentler, require multiple treatments, while ablative lasers only require a single treatment.

Many acne care products on the market will claim to eliminate acne scars, but keep in mind that scar reduction is not always guaranteed. One product that has many people reporting a decrease in scarring from acne is Azelaic acid, which comes in the form of a moisturizer. While it does not work for all individuals, Azelaic acid can be helpful to many people.

If you do have chronic cystic acne that you cannot keep under control, a dermatologist may be a good option.  Acne care for severe acne can be difficult, and the risk of acne scarring raises the stakes.  In most cases, it is far easier and cost effective to deal with severe acne early rather than acne scars later.

What are some of the other factors that increase the likelihood of getting acne?

That is a good question, and one that is probably on everyone's mind. The tough part about acne is that there is not one single thing that can cause it. Several factors help cause acne. Some of them can be avoided, while others cannot. For example, one cannot change family history, but this is one very important factor in determining the development of some form of acne.

Hormonal activity is another. Women who are pregnant or who are menstruating have been known to suddenly develop bad cases of acne. Other factors, such as stress and certain medications, can also bring about acne. Remember: acne is based on the hormonal changes that take place within the body. Any life-changing or stress-inducing event is likely to alter a person's chemical makeup. Finally, the accumulation of dead skin cells often contributes to increased acne.

Burdock Root, A Natural Acne Treatment: Part 2

Acne displays itself on the face, back and neck. Acne doesn't start on the face, neck or back though. The basis of this begins inside the human body. Ultimately, the root source goes back to the pituitary gland, which produces hormones, which in turn release chemicals that effect others cells throughout the human body. Of such effected are the sebaceous glands.

Some areas controlled by the Pituitary Gland are:
1. Basic human growth
2. Blood Pressure
3. Functions of sex organs
4. Water regulation

The basic problem of acne occurs within the Sebaceous glands where an oily substance called Sebum is secreted. Sebum is made up of fat and dead skin. Sebum is produced when the sebaceous glands break down and separate.

Sebaceous glands can be found in hair-covered areas and  non-haired areas. These glands are found over most of our body with the exception of some places. The oil produced also lubricates the hair in order to prevent drying and damaging. Sebaceous glands open up to the hair follicle or to the pour of the skin itself.

Sebum, when at normal levels, is supposed to:
1. Protect skin from bacteria
2. Keep skin hydrated

What creates or trigggers the acne effect?
1. Increased Sebum levels by over active Sebaceous glands often referred to as seborrhoea.
2. Sebum and dead skin clog pores
3. Hormone inbalance - increases level of Sebum
4. Walls of hair follicles bursting

Types of Acne that can occur:
1. Acne Vulgaris
2. Acne Nodule cystic
4. Acne Whitehead and Blackhead(called Comedonal acne)
3. Acne Scarring

Use Burdock Root To Treat Acne

Active ingedients of the Burdock are arcigen, calcium, chlorogenic acid, essential oil, flavonoids, iron, inulin, lactone, mucilage, polyacetylenes, potassium, resin, tannin, and taraxosterol.

Lets look at Inulin:
1. Does not increase blood sugar, benefit to diabetes condition
2. soluble fiber - easy on colon
3. May help lower cholesterol and glucose

Polyacetylenes:
1. anti-inflammatory properties

Iron
1. Blood Builder

Again Burdock root is proven to purify the blood and remove the toxins out of it, as well as treat skin problems. One issue we deal with may be found in the liver not functioning properly in detoxifying the blood giving way to unhealthy skin. Not to mention the need for the digestive tract and kidney to function proper.

I found it amazing that when I felt good, I looked good. My body inwardly feels healthy. My digestive system is working as should. The reduction of toxins and the healthness of the skin has given way to a reduction in bacteria as well. I know that food has been disputed as a cause for acne but I encourage eveyone to look again as being a contributor.

I will suggest this. What happens if we feed the body too much of something it already produces naturally, causing an imbalance? Your body may produce more oil, secrete more sugars, naturally. What we eat may become triggers as the body finds ways of discarding things it cannot digest, and or treats as a toxin. This is just a theory in a way, as that I am not a doctor just an experienced acne individual. A great site to visit is listed here on Sebum. http://dermnetnz.org/acne/sebum.html

See part 3 for my complete daily routine…
