Is there a single vitamin for your acne which you could take in order for it to disappear?

How great would it be if you could just pop a pill and your acne started to disappear. No I'm not talking about the doctor's antibiotic treatments, what about a truly health vitamin pill - one a day and no acne right? A vitamin for acne.

Well, recent research suggests that this is not in fact possible. For a number of years people have suggested the vitamin b5 (or patothenic acid) for helping acne sufferers. According to legend, all you have to do is take this in high amounts and it will cure your acne. Dr Lit-Hung Leung published his findings in 1997. Vitamin B5 can be found in foods such as red meat, eggs, fish, mushrooms and peanuts. However the amount of B5 in these foods is not enough and so special boosted supplements have been made, rich in vitamin B5.

Recent experiments have been carried out with different ranges of people and have proved that supplementing your diet with high doses of vitamin B5 doesn't always work. In fact in some cases the results included nausea and fatigue!

It's also worth bearing in mind that hogh doses of Patothenic acid can be extremely dangerous. Ingesting high doses of one B vitamin means that other vitamins are pushed aside in your system and the normal harmonious workings of your body become disrupted. The fact remains that if acne was caused by a having too little Vitamin B5 in your diet, then a lot more people would be suffering with acne. It may well be that the Vitamin B5 diet is a fad on its way out.
