Healing Acne Scars by
Detoxification
Detoxification involves cleansing the
body of accumulated toxins. These toxins are initially
introduced to the body through the impacts of everyday
life. They are found in air pollution, chemicals in food
and drink, especially processed foods, and also build up
through failure to exercise and to generally maintain a healthy
lifestyle.
There are several conditions which result from
increased toxins in the body, such as acne, eczema and
other dermatological illnesses. In fact, almost all
skin diseases are caused by allergens which the body has
been unable to secrete. Therefore, sometimes it is
in our best interest to give our body a helping hand with
the detoxification process.
Unlike using topical agents or other medication,
healing acne and its associated scars through
detoxification is completely natural and prevents the
introduction of further foreign bodies to the skin and
immune system. This in turn allows the body to
regenerate more quickly and effectively.
However, detoxification by itself is not
enough. A healthy lifestyle must be maintained in
order to continue the benefit. Initially, detoxification
may seem like a daunting task but it is actually much
easier and more pleasant than you may imagine.
As our bodies are made up mostly of water, the
key element to detoxification is to drink at least eight
glasses a day. This is the minimum our body needs
to function properly and so by drinking more, we are
assisting the body in ‘flushing out’ dangerous elements
that have built up in our system. This influx of
water will lead to more frequent urination which is just
one of the ways our body secretes toxins. All of
this water is what keeps our skin clear. The body’s
improved state will also now be better able to heal
scars, such as those resulting from acne.
We also secrete toxins in our perspiration and
so a trip to the sauna will do the world of good.
Ideally, you should spend fifteen minutes in the heat and
then have a shower. Repeat the fifteen minutes and
follow with a second shower. This allows the body
to ‘sweat out’ toxins and by washing, we remove them from
our skin completely.
The foods we eat also have a great impact on the
body and its ability to function correctly and heal
itself. Water-rich foods such as watermelon and
cucumber increase the water levels and act in much the
same way as drinking. Protein is also an important
element and can be found in fresh nuts and
fish.
Again, it is fundamental to maintain a healthy
body in order to keep the benefits seen after
detoxification. By returning to poor eating and
exercise, the body will simply go back to its slow and
sluggish state. Spots will return, scars will form
and they will all take longer to heal.
Look after your body and it will look after
you.
